The MAP of La Jolla Shores app was created for The Walter Munk Foundation – to honor the legacy of exploration and discovery of Walter Munk, "The Einstein of the Ocean."
This app is the way to experience – virtually or in person – the diverse marine life contained in the mosaic of the Grand Canyons of La Jolla Shores near San Diego, California.
La Jolla Shores is both an ecological haven and a magnet for tourists from around the world. The mosaic map in Kellogg Park features life-size creatures of the canyons. The diverse aquatic life of the canyons comes to life in a mosaic made of thousands and thousands of individual tiles.
If you are visiting the mosaic in person, you can use the app to explore in augmented reality, identify, and learn about the marine life in the mosaic. You can read about, watch, and listen to the sounds of 120 different spices of cephalopods, fish, mammals, birds, and more. Or view and explore the map virtually, from wherever you are.
Features of The MAP of La Jolla Shores app include: interactive augmented reality navigation of 120 species , over 1,000 photos, featured videos, audio narration, audio samples of each specie, and species descriptions.
